As you navigate our accelerated curriculum, you’ll receive personalized instruction from educators with years of nursing experience. Dedicated to your academic and professional success, your educators will be there every step of the way to provide the guidance you need to graduate fully prepared to treat patients throughout the lifespan. You’ll also complete clinical experience with different patient populations in a variety of settings. Graduates of this program will be prepared to pursue board certification as a family nurse practitioner – for example, to earn the Family Nurse Practitioner Certification (FNP-BC™) from the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC).
This program meets licensure requirements in the state of New York. Applicants from outside of New York (including Ohio and Pennsylvania) are responsible to contact their Board of Nursing to verify that this program meets the requirements for future nurse practitioner licensure.
D’Youville’s online FNP Advanced Certificate program includes 750 hours of precepted clinical practice. You’ll have the opportunity to gain some of these hours at the organization where you currently work, making this program even more convenient for busy nurses like you.
FNP certificate students who have earned a clinical MSN will be required to complete 11 courses while students with a nonclinical MSN will be required to complete one or two additional courses.*
Applicants for the online FNP Advanced Certificate program who meet all published admission criteria will be invited to discuss additional program requirements including on-campus immersion experiences and clinical placements prior to receiving final acceptance decisions.
*We will conduct an individual gap analysis of each applicant’s transcripts to determine what additional courses or clinical hours may be needed to satisfy FNP certificate requirements. Note: courses included in the gap analysis form cannot be older than 5 years.
In addition to the general admission requirements for graduate programs at D’Youville University, applicants to the post-master’s certificate in family nurse practitioner must present the following:
*Non-U.S. students must submit a “course-by-course” evaluation (or equivalent) of all college and/or university transcripts through the World Education Services (WES) or other approved foreign transcript evaluation agencies.
**A student who meets the entry requirements and is currently or previously enrolled in a nurse practitioner program at another college or university must obtain a letter from their current school of nursing stating the student is in good standing, not on probation, and able to register for classes. Students who were dismissed for any reason from a graduate nursing program will not be considered for admission.
